  • State/District ACT: February 20th 2019

On Wednesday, February 20th, junior students will be taking the State/District ACT test during periods 1-6 at MWHS.  It is a full length, official ACT with Writing test that will yield a college reportable score.  However, it is different from a National ACT Test in three important ways:

    1. Students do not need to register for this test as they will for any other ACT they take.  Registration is done in school with all students about one week prior to testing.
    2. Testing will take place during the school day rather than on a Saturday morning.
    3. It will only cost $20.  Any national ACT with Writing will cost students $58.50.  Confidential fee waivers are available to students who qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Students planning to apply to 4-year colleges will be able to use their score to satisfy college application requirements.  Students planning to apply to 2-year schools may be able to use their score to substitute for otherwise required placement testing.  And, students who are unsure of their plans for after high school will be able to use their score as a data point to help them determine an appropriate plan.  We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to all junior students.

Some important information for you to be aware of:

    • It is a full-length ACT plus Writing Test and will yield college reportable scores.
    • Registration for this test will take place during WIN time on Wednesday, February 14th.  Please plan to meet in the cafeteria by 8:00 am sharp that day.  There is no online registration option for this test.  All students must complete this preadministration/registration session prior to taking the test.  If you are unable to make it on February 13th during WIN time the other option will be after school (2:45) on Thursday, February 14th.
    • The $20 fee has been assigned to your Skyward Family Access Fee Management account.  The deadline to pay that fee is Wednesday, February 6th.  Confidential fee waivers will be assigned for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch.
    • Testing will take place in the English area classrooms.  The test will last periods 1-6a.  All junior students will eat 6b lunch that day and attend period 7-8 classes.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's school counselor.
