Distance Teaching Criteria

Teaching from Home on Distance Learning Days
Teachers and educational paraprofessionals that have the option to work remotely on distance learning days must meet the following criteria:
- Connectivity: Your ability to run necessary platforms should be as good as if you were at school. If it is not, you will be expected to work from the classroom. This should also allow for you to participate in other duties outside of your classroom, such as team/department meetings, staff development, IEP meetings, etc.
- Home Distractions: It is important that you have a plan for how to handle potential interruptions to your work day. If home distractions are impacting the quality of your instruction, you will be expected to work from the classroom.
- Necessary Resources: It is important that you have the necessary resources to do your job to the best of your potential. If your classroom better equips you to provide instruction, you may need to work from the classroom.
- Professionalism: School rules and expectations for professional dress/appearance and displays apply to your home office. If you would not wear something to school, you should not wear it on Zoom. Similarly, posters, artwork and material that would not be appropriate for the classroom should not be visible to students while you are teaching from home.
- Confidentiality: You are required to maintain confidentiality in the environment from which you are teaching/working. If you cannot guarantee confidentiality at home, you will be expected to work from the classroom.
