Fine Arts

  • The philosophy of the Fine Arts Department is to offer students a well-rounded curricular experience that includes exposure to genres of art, music, and theater in a wide variety of creative settings. These are the three goals that serve as a foundation for the Fine Arts Department:

    • Provide a productive and cooperative learning environment in which students of various backgrounds and ability levels may learn to achieve outstanding artistic results.
    • Engage students in a journey toward artistic and personal success at the highest level.
    • Develop in young people the appreciation, discrimination, analysis, and participation skills necessary to become lifelong participants, critics, and consumers of the arts.

    Graduation Requirements
The state of Minnesota requires that students have one credit (two semesters) of art in grades 9-12 in order to graduate. Taking two of the following courses fulfills that Art requirement. Each of these courses will provide students with artistic foundations necessary to create, perform, and respond to art.
