  • Fourth-Graders Throw 'Kindness Boomerangs' Following Retreat

    If a person wants to be treated with kindness, they have to throw the "kindness boomerang," and kindness can come back to them. Through music, games and small and large group discussions, and with the help of some high school mentors, Westonka Public Schools fourth-graders learned that valuable lesson last week at the Youth Frontiers Kindness Retreat®.

  • Girls on the Run Aims to Empower Westonka Students Through Fitness

    This fall, 19 third- and fourth-grade girls from Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools participated in Westonka's first Girls on the Run program. Girls on the Run is a national nonprofit organization that empowers girls to dream big and be confident, strong and healthy.

  • Sponsor a Child's School Meals During Westonka Foodies' Angel Fund Drive

    The annual Westonka Foodies Angel Fund Drive begins Monday, Nov. 11, and runs through Dec. 31, 2019. The Angel Fund is used to pay breakfast and lunch meal account charges for students who may otherwise go without meals during the school day.

  • Westonka Hosts MNSHAPE Conference

    Westonka Public Schools hosted the 2019 Minnesota Society of Health and Physical Educators (MNSHAPE) Conference on Oct. 17 and 18, organized by Grandview Middle School PE teacher Pete Westby. The annual event attracted 235 attendees from throughout Minnesota and the neighboring states.

  • Students Celebrate Unity Day by Wearing Orange

    Students across the district stood up to bullying on Oct. 23 by wearing orange to celebrate Unity Day, a movement designed to bring everyone together to stand against bullying and be united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Each school in the Westonka district conducted activities throughout the month of October aimed at spreading kindness, promoting unity and combating bullying.

  • DECA Hosts Trick-or-Trot 5K for WeCAN

    Mound Westonka DECA is partnering with Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) to host a 5K and Fun Run on October 26. This event will take place in and around the MWHS Commons area. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. The 1-Mile Run Fun will begin at 10 a.m., followed immediately by the 5K around 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. Following the race, snacks will be provided to all runners as race and costume winners are announced.
