    The school board is the governing body of the school district, and the seven board members are local citizens elected to four-year terms. Members are required to comply with laws and regulations enacted by the Minnesota Legislature and the Minnesota Department of Education. The board approves budgets, hires staff, provides facilities, establishes curriculum, determines policy, and generally provides for the educational needs of Westonka students.

Announcements

    • The Sept. 14, 2020 school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Westonka Performing Arts Center. In accordance with public health regulations, we can accommodate up to 150 people in the PAC. Per Executive Order 20-81, everyone in attendance must wear a face covering, and social distancing will be strictly enforced. All visitors must complete the COVID-19 Self-Screening Checklist prior to attending the meeting.

    • This meeting will also be streamed live to the district’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/WestonkaEdge. The video will be archived on the LMCC-TV website.

Questions or Concerns?

  • Before appealing to the school board with an issue or problem, citizens are urged to contact the teacher, then the building principal, then the Superintendent of Schools in order to reach a successful closure to an individual issue. If these procedures are unsuccessful, then arrangements will be made for the concerned party to formally address the school board.
