    Westonka Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Borg and an enthusiastic group of teachers and administrators surprised Mound Westonka High School social studies teacher Sara Schwartz at her home May 27 with the 2020 Westonka Teacher of the Year Award.

  • Westonka Foodies Offer Free Summer Meals

    For most kids, summer means carefree days. But for some kids, no school means wondering where their next meal is coming from. Several local organizations are teaming up this summer to make sure kids have access to healthy and nutritious meals. The Westonka Foodies from the Westonka School District will be hosting a Free Summer Meals program again this year.

  • Queen Emma and King Artie Reign Over Prom

    Seniors Emma Mack and Artie Witschorik, Jr. were named 2020 Mound Westonka High School Prom Queen and King on May 15. Students and their families were invited to dance "together" for a virtual prom.

  • Long-time Westonka Staff Honored for Years of Service

    Due to the statewide school closure and the threat of COVID-19, the annual Westonka Public Schools Retiree and Years of Service Banquet was canceled this year. Forty-two Westonka employees would have been honored May 6 at the Lafayette Club for their years of service to the school district. Superintendent Kevin Borg and the Westonka School Board would like to recognize and thank these long-time staff for their dedicated service to Westonka Public Schools.

  • Hilltop Readers Enjoy Pancake Breakfast

    There was a minor traffic jam in downtown Mound Thursday morning. Turns out it was a crowd of hungry readers from Hilltop Primary School lining up for a pancake breakfast at Scotty B’s Restaurant. Each year, Hilltop School celebrates students who reach their reading goals by hosting a breakfast at school put on by Scotty B’s. But with distance learning in place this year, they had to get creative.

  • MWHS Student Achievements Recognized

    Each year, the Westonka School Board recognizes students from all grade levels at the May board meeting for their achievements in arts and academics. Although the personal recognition was not possible this year, the School Board and the district still want to recognize these students for their outstanding accomplishments. This week’s recognition focuses on Mound Westonka High School students.

  • May 28 Superintendent's Update

    On Monday, June 1, our students will turn in their devices and Westonka Public Schools will prepare to close this chapter of distance learning for the 2019-2020 school year. What a journey it has been. As I have said time and time again, thank you all for the patience, flexibility and grace you have shown over these past months. Please read the Borg Report for several end-of-year updates.
