  • Our Safe Schools Commitment

I wish to thank everyone who attended the April 12 school safety discussion at Mound Westonka High School. It was a productive evening, filled with constructive dialog about our district’s greatest responsibility: keeping students and staff safe. At the meeting, I shared some action steps that the district will be taking in the coming months regarding safety and security. Please read the Borg Report to learn more about these plans.

  • Westonka to Begin Exploring Changes to K-12 Start Times

On April 9, the Westonka School Board unanimously approved a recommendation to begin reviewing possible changes to school start times across the district. Westonka's current secondary schedule does not align with research showing that later start times help teens get more sleep, which can result in better physical and mental health. Given the board authorization, the district will begin looking into possible changes to K-12 start times for the 2019-2020 school year with the goal of improving our students’ overall health and wellbeing.
