POLICY 2001: SCHOOL BOARD REVIEW - VISION, MISSION AND STRATEGIC PLAN
The School Board is responsible to review the district's mission and vision statements and strategic plan every two years.

POLICY 2002: SCHOOL BOARD LEGAL STATUS
Minnesota state law provides legal status to school boards, establishing school board authority, powers and duties and principles of School District management. Defines membership as seven directors and the superintendent as exofficio nonvoting.

POLICY 2004: LEGAL STATUS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
A primary principle of this nation is that the public welfare demands an educated and informed citizenry. The power to provide for public education is a state function vested in the state legislature and delegated to local school districts. Clarifies the legal status of the school district.

POLICY 2005: SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS
Westonka School Board elections occur on first Tuesday in November in odd years. Board members' 4-year terms overlap.

POLICY 2006: CONFLICT OF INTEREST - SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER
School board intends to avoid any conflict of interest or appearance thereof in contracting for goods and services. States exceptions and limitations on related employees.

POLICY 2400: CHEMICAL USE AND ABUSE
The School Board's goal is the prevention of chemical use and abuse by students and employees. Provides procedures for education, intervention, and consequences.

POLICY 2450: DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE/DRUG-FREE SCHOOL
Maintains a safe and healthful environment for employees and students by prohibiting the use of alcohol, toxic substances and controlled substances without a physician's prescription. Lists exceptions, procedures, and enforcement.

POLICY 2500: STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES WITH COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AND INFECTIOUS CONDITIONS
Students and employees with communicable diseases shall not be excluded from attending school or working in their usual setting so long as their health permits and their attendance does not create a significant risk of the transmission of illness to others.

POLICY 2610: PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PERSONNEL DATA
Provides guidance to school district employees as to the data which the school district collects, creates, receives, maintains or disseminates regarding its personnel. Identifies public vs. private data.

The School District's email is for educational purposes and the sharing of information and ideas. District electronic mail systems, addresses, and accounts are property of the school district.
