Election Results

  • On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, Westonka Public Schools residents approved both school district questions on the election ballot. In unofficial results, Question 1 (capital projects levy renewal) passed by a margin of 63.25% to 36.75%, and Question 2 (bond referendum) passed by a margin of 51.07% to 48.93%. Additionally, incumbents Heidi Marty, Brian Roath and Ralph Harrison and newcomer David Olson were elected to four-year terms on the school board. Thank you, Westonka voters!

    On Nov. 7, voters in Westonka Public Schools will be asked to consider two ballot questions that will advance the Westonka Edge—those small school advantages and big school opportunities that make Westonka Public Schools a valuable asset and source of pride for our community.

    Question 1 is a request to renew an existing capital projects levy that provides a strong technology system and access to up-to-date curriculum, both print and digital. Because the district’s tax authority would remain the same as originally approved in 2014, renewing the capital projects levy will not result in a new tax increase.

    Question 2 asks voters to consider approving a new $93.4 million building bond investment in school facilities (over a 25-year payment period) to support safety and security, deferred maintenance, and a redesign of Mound Westonka High School. The bond referendum follows over a year of research and community input on district facilities.

    Voters will also elect four school board members.

    If both ballot questions (capital projects levy renewal and bond referendum) pass, Westonka's total school property taxes in 2024 will still be the lowest among school districts in Hennepin County.

    Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7—but you can vote early in-person at the Westonka Educational Service Center. Typical voting hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will also be open for voting on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On the last day for absentee voting, Nov. 6, the office will remain open until 5 p.m. To find where you will vote on Election Day, please visit mnvotes.org. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The combined polling places for this election are as follows:
