A Message from the Superintendent
A warm Westonka welcome
-
The Westonka community comprises all or part of eight suburban communities on the shores of beautiful Lake Minnetonka. My family and I live here, so I can personally attest to the value of having access to a full menu of opportunities available in a metropolitan area, while enjoying the tranquil lifestyle of a smaller community.
Academic outperformer: Westonka's test scores are consistently among the best in the state. When we say our schools offer small school advantages with big school opportunities—that’s not just a tagline. It’s who we are.
The Westonka Edge: Small School Advantages. Big School Opportunities. Small school advantages mean Westonka Schools are relationship-based; we really do know every child by name and strive to help every child succeed.
When it comes to big school opportunities, Westonka schools are right up there with the big guys. Our teaching staff is highly educated and experienced. We offer a broad selection of choices and options for students from first-class academics to award-winning athletics and arts programs. The difference is our students don’t get stuck on the sidelines. At Westonka, everyone gets a chance to play.
Our graduates leave Westonka prepared for success in college and careers. They are sought after by the top public and private colleges and universities in the nation.
Strong community support: The Westonka community has a long history of supporting school funding requests, yet we maintain the lowest total school property taxes in Hennepin County. Parent and community volunteers can also be found in our schools every day. Our community-based scholarship program provides over $300,000 in college scholarships to graduating seniors each year.
Visit us: The best way to become acquainted with our award-winning schools is to visit them. The principal at each school will be happy to arrange a personal tour for you and your student. Please let me know if there is additional information I can provide that will help you find the best educational fit for your family.
Take a tour of our website and explore all the wonderful opportunities awaiting you and your children. Read The Borg Report for current updates concerning the district.
Again, welcome to Westonka Schools—feel free to contact me at any time to let me know how we're doing. Please call (952) 491-8001 or email me at any time.
Sincerely,
Kevin
