October 9, 2024 — As you welcome trick-or-treaters this Halloween, keep an eye out for National Honor Society students from Mound Westonka High School in costume, calling out “Trick-or-Can!” These spirited students will be collecting donations for WeCAN, a local nonprofit in Mound dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Students will be collecting both shelf-stable food and personal care items, as well as monetary contributions via Venmo. High-need items include instant/boxed potatoes, stuffing mix, sloppy joe mix, mac & cheese, canned chili and pinto beans, broth, soups, sugar, flour, coffee, tea, popcorn, breakfast bars, and gluten-free items. Basic personal care items like body wash, shampoo, and razors are also needed.

If you have a sizable donation that you would like to have picked up, please contact NHS Advisor Jana Paré at parej@westonka.k12.mn.us to make arrangements.

“Your participation can make a big difference in supporting our community,” said Paré. “Thank you for your generosity!”
