  • WeCAN Coat Drive Begins Oct. 1

    As you begin to prepare your wardrobe for upcoming cooler weather, please consider saving your winter coats and snow pants for WeCAN’s annual Coat Drive. Collection boxes will be located at Westonka Early Childhood Centers, Hilltop and Shirley Hills Primary Schools and Grandview Middle School from Oct. 1 through Oct. 22.

  • New MWHS Business Center Models Professional Workplace

    Completed over the summer, the new Mound Westonka High School Business Center offers high school students a glimpse into a modern workplace. In only a matter of weeks, teachers say the new space has transformed learning for business and marketing students at the high school.

  • MWHS Artists Earn Awards at Juried Show

    The Mound Westonka High School art department hosted an opening reception on Sept. 23 for the 2019 #WestonkArts High School Juried Art Exhibit, a high-caliber juried exhibit for high school students, which will be on display at the Westonka Performing Arts Center through October.

  • Hilltop Octoberfest is October 5

    Octoberfest, Hilltop Primary School’s annual fall festival and biggest fundraiser of the year, will be held Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school. Last year the event raised over $25,000 and the Hilltop PTA, which organizes the event, hopes to continue that great tradition this year.

  • Queen Melissa and King Ryan Preside Over Homecoming

    An enthusiastic Mound Westonka High School student body gathered for an assembly on Monday, Sept. 23, where seniors Melissa Drill and Ryan Fitz were crowned the 2019 MWHS Homecoming Queen and King. Family members and friends were also in attendance.

    Anders Erdahl and Hampton Velarde, long-time friends and seniors at Mound Westonka High School, were recently notified that they are National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists.

  • Westonka is Second in State Math Assessments, Seventh in Reading

    According to data released in August by the Minnesota Department of Education, Westonka Public Schools remains a high academic performer, with students scoring among the top districts in the state on the spring 2019 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments and Minnesota Test of Academic Skills. Overall, Westonka had the second highest percent proficient in math in the state (78 percent) and the seventh highest percent proficient in reading (77 percent) of districts testing at least 100 students in a grade level.

  • WSI Costa Rica Information Meeting Scheduled for Sept. 24

    Westonka Summer Institute, the district’s credit-bearing immersion program, will return to Costa Rica in the summer of 2020. Mound Westonka High School chemistry and physics teacher Sarah Morinville will lead the WSI Costa Rica Experience June 5-20, 2020, in partnership with Seeds of Change, Inc., a Minnesota 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation. Interested students in grades 10-12 and their parents are invited to attend an information night on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, from 7 to 8 p.m. in room C210 at MWHS.

  • Shirley Hills Debuts New Outdoor Classroom

    An overgrown flower garden behind the Shirley Hills Primary School media center has new life as an outdoor classroom, thanks to the collective efforts of the school’s PTA, Shirley Hills staff, funding from the Westonka 277 Foundation and a partnership with Three Rivers Park District.
