WESTONKA YOUTH FOOTBALL (WYF)
Westonka Youth Football (WYF) is a volunteer organization operated through Westonka Community Education and Services. WYF provides a great opportunity for kids to participate in organized skills development, flag football, and tackle football. We are dedicated to offering young people in grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football and the value of teamwork in a safe and fun environment.
The Westonka Youth Football (WYF) program begins in Kindergarten with a developmental skills program that runs through 2nd grade. In grades 3rd through 4th, the Westonka Youth Football program forms flag football teams and participates in an In-House program. In grades 5th through 6th, the Westonka Youth Football program forms tackle football teams and competes against other area programs/schools, including Westonka, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Lake, Rockford, and Watertown-Mayer in the Wright, Carver, and Hennepin Area (WCHA) Football League.
MINI-HAWKS MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (K-2ND GRADE)
This introductory football program will focus on teaching kids the basic fundamental skills and rules of football through fun games and activities. Equipment and instruction will be age appropriate and participants will be grouped according to age and/or ability level. Programming will take place on Monday nights. Instruction will be provided by the White Hawks varsity coaching staff and players.
FLAG FOOTBALL (3RD & 4TH GRADE)
The Westonka Youth Football Flag Football League is offered for 3rd and 4th graders. This in-house league features players participating in two weekly practices and Saturday game days as they compete against each other in flag football. The players develop skills necessary for success on the field in a fun and safe environment.
TACKLE FOOTBALL (5TH & 6TH GRADE)
Westonka Youth Tackle Football is offered for 5th and 6th graders. Players will practice two nights a week and learn the proper fundamentals of football and correct tackling techniques. Teams will be formed and compete against other local communities including Westonka, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Lake, Rockford, and Watertown-Mayer on Saturday mornings in the Westonka, Carver, and Hennepin Area (WCHA) Football League.
The summer season allows for skill development opportunities through various camps. The Westonka Youth Football Basic Skills Camp (Grades 1-6), the White Hawks Football Skills Camp (Grades K-4), the White Hawks Football Developmental Camp (Grades 5-8), the Westonka Football Big Man OL/DL Camp (Grades 7-8), and the Westonka Football Passing Academy (Grades 5-8) are all great opportunities to improve as a player in a safe environment with instruction being provided by the White Hawks varsity coaching staff and players.
