Westonka Community Education & Services in cooperation with Westonka Youth Wrestling offer a variety of wrestling opportunities during the fall and winter seasons for the purpose of promoting and fostering the sport of wrestling at all levels.
The fall offers introductory courses such as Intro to Elementary Wrestling and Intro to Middle School Wrestling. These courses are great opportunities for new wrestlers to try wrestling for the first time, but also for experienced wrestlers to get a jump start on the winter season. The basic fundamentals and techniques of the sport are taught in a fun environment by experienced coaches. The fall also offers Competition Team Wrestling where wrestlers who plan to compete in tournaments at the state and national level are able to work on advanced techniques and compete in live wrestling during practices.
As the winter settles in the wrestling season starts heating up with the Youth Wrestling program. This program consists of two nights a week of practice where wrestlers experience technique training, drills, live wrestling and fun games. The program is offered for pre K - Grade 6 wrestlers and runs into February and March.
Westonka Community Education & Services also teams with the Mound Westonka High School Wrestling Team to offer White Hawks Summer Wrestling. This summer training program will focus on keeping wrestlers skills and techniques sharp during the off-season. White Hawks Summer Wrestling will be emphasizing basic to advanced techniques while incorporating drilling and live wrestling. This camp will be appropriate for veteran wrestlers as well as athletes new to the sport.
