Early Learning Announcements

  • 2020-21 Westonka Community Preschool 

    Attached is all the information you will need to know in order to register for preschool at Westonka.

    Here are Important Dates to Keep in Mind:

    • December 16-February 5 - Turn in your paperwork to either the Early Learning Center or the Shirley Hills Early Learning site. The following forms need to be completed and submitted prior to approval of your child's preschool contract.
    • January 15 - Parent Information Night at 6:15pm in the Hilltop Media Center.  Please enter through the Early Learning Center doors.
    • January 22 - Online Registration opens at 8am.
    • January 29 - Preschool contracts for current preschool families, ECFE weekly class families and district staff begin to be approved in the order in which they were submitted if all forms are completed and turned in.
    • February 5 - Preschool contracts begin to be approved in the order in which they were submitted if all the forms are completed and turned in.

  • District Receives Donation of Over 1,500 Face Shields

    In addition to Chromebooks and classroom materials, Westonka Public Schools was tasked this summer with quickly acquiring a new type of school supply: personal protective equipment. This included stockpiling face masks, which are required in all Minnesota school buildings this fall, as well as face shields, which are primarily used as eye protection for the wearer. Prior to the start of school, Westonka parent Charlie Schupp and Woodchuck Medical contacted Westonka Schools with a generous offer to donate over 1,500 student face shields.

  • American Indian Parent Advisory Committee Forms for 2020-21

    Westonka Public Schools is forming a new American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) for the 2020-21 school year. Per Minnesota statute, a school district in which there are 10 or more American Indian students enrolled must establish an American Indian education parent advisory committee. The purpose of the AIPAC is to develop a deeper awareness and understanding of the academic and social-emotional needs of the district's American Indian student population.

  • USDA School Meal Waiver Extended

    Students of Westonka Public Schools will have multiple ways to access meals this fall, depending on their grade level and learning model choice. Due to an extension of the USDA School Meal Waiver announced Aug. 31, Westonka is able to offer all student meals free of charge.

  • Fall 2020 Roadmap

    The annual Westonka Public Schools back-to-school booklet is digital this year. The Fall 2020 Roadmap contains an overview of Westonka's Safe Learning Plan for the 2020-21 school year, as well as time sensitive information about bus routes, the school lunch program and more. If you prefer a hard copy, some will be available in school and district offices prior to the start of school.
