Early Learning Announcements

  • 2020-21 Westonka Community Preschool 

    Attached is all the information you will need to know in order to register for preschool at Westonka.

    Here are Important Dates to Keep in Mind:

    • December 16-February 5 - Turn in your paperwork to either the Early Learning Center or the Shirley Hills Early Learning site. The following forms need to be completed and submitted prior to approval of your child's preschool contract.
    • January 15 - Parent Information Night at 6:15pm in the Hilltop Media Center.  Please enter through the Early Learning Center doors.
    • January 22 - Online Registration opens at 8am.
    • January 29 - Preschool contracts for current preschool families, ECFE weekly class families and district staff begin to be approved in the order in which they were submitted if all forms are completed and turned in.
    • February 5 - Preschool contracts begin to be approved in the order in which they were submitted if all the forms are completed and turned in.

  • Children's Playhouse Hosts First Performance

    Westonka Community Theatre’s Children’s Playhouse presented its very first production Feb. 7 and 8 in the Little Theater at Mound Westonka High School. “The Phantom in the Music Room,” a humorous, melodramatic, modern-day mystery written by Janet Gardner, was rehearsed and performed in just one week by 38 students from the area in grades 1 through 8.

  • The Okee Dokee Brothers to Present Family Fun Concert at the PAC

    Don't miss Grammy Award-winning duo The Okee Dokee Brothers with opening act Troy Flemming at the Westonka Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m. Enjoy free kids activities before the show (11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) sponsored by Westonka Friends of the Arts.

  • New Children's Playhouse Offers Youth Acting Opportunity

    Westonka Community Theatre is excited to offer a new acting opportunity for youth ages 7-17, who are invited to participate in the first Children’s Playhouse production of “Phantom of the Music Room.” Auditions will be held Monday, Feb. 3, from 3:45 to 6:45 p.m. in the Mound Westonka High School Little Theater.

  • Schools Host Collection Drives for WeCAN

    Students at every school in the Westonka School District embraced the holiday spirit throughout December by collecting a variety of items for families served by the Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN). Additionally, staff members at the schools and the Educational Service Center also participated in WeCAN's Adopt-A-Family program.

  • Westonka Schools Name Teachers of the Year

    Westonka Education Minnesota surprised five Westonka Public Schools educators in November with their respective schools' top teaching award. Congratulations to Westonka’s 2019-2020 building Teachers of the Year: Christie Latterner from Westonka Early Learning, Bobbie Jo Tronsgard from Shirley Hills Primary School, Klair Hans from Hilltop Primary School, Jessica Lunski from Grandview Middle School and Sara Schwartz from Mound Westonka High School.
