How will I know about the progress of my child in learning English?
Every English learner is given an annual English language assessment - ACCESS for ELLs. This test is administered in February and March. All English learners in Grades K-12 take it. This test will determine the progress your child is making in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. Based on the results of the test, your child will be assigned an English proficiency level. That level will be used to determine what EL services your child needs.
