POLICY 5400: ACCELERATION - GRADE LEVEL

I. PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to establish rationale for acceleration of a student in an entire grade level.

II. GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY

Grade level acceleration is the placement of any student in an instructional program for which the student’s academic ability is beyond their current grade level. Any acceleration decision should be approached on a case-by-case basis with careful consideration of the criteria determined by the District’s approved acceleration identification process.

III. IMPLEMENTATION

The step-by-step process of determining if grade level acceleration is an appropriate option is described in AR 5400.
