September 15, 2023 — The Shirley Hills Primary School PTA hosted a “welcome back to school” picnic and pizza party at the playground on Sept. 8. The event was designed to celebrate the new school year by giving families an opportunity to meet each other.

“The picnic is a great social activity to kick-off the school year,” said Andrew Reinitz, PTA president. “It's wonderful to have kids of all grades socializing and playing together.”

Perfect weather this year contributed to record attendance at the event. There was lots of laughter and plenty of smiles throughout the cafeteria and playground as students reconnected with friends after the summer and made new friends as well.

Reinitz offered a “huge thank you” to all the parents and staff who volunteered to help set up, serve, and clean up, as well as those who donated funds to offset the cost of the sides and drinks.
