COVID-19 Travel Guidance

February 11, 2021 — We have received some questions from Westonka Public Schools parents and staff about personal travel over the Presidents’ Day holiday and Spring Break. Please review the official travel guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control linked below. The school district is not in a position to monitor family and staff travel decisions, and the district will not require a quarantine upon returning for anyone who travels. Nevertheless, the MDH and CDC recommendations provide important safety information for all to consider.

As a reminder, students may join their school’s distance learning cohort at any time, including if they choose to self-quarantine following travel. Families should contact the school directly if they wish to move to distance learning mid-quarter. Registration for the Distance Only Option for the fourth quarter will open in March.

Finally, we must all continue to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep our schools open.

  • Remain vigilant with prevention practices. The prevention practices of mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing and symptom screening continue to be vitally important. Review: Westonka’s Health & Safety Protocols
  • Keep your student(s) home if they are sick. All students and staff need to be screened every day they will be learning in person. If they answer yes to any question on the checklist, they MUST stay home from school and activities. We recommend that anyone in your household who is exhibiting symptoms be tested for COVID-19. Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe!
