Lissa Harvey Named May Winner of Westonka Way Award
Westonka Superintendent Kevin Borg presents Lissa Harvey with the Westonka Way Award
May 14, 2019 — Mound Westonka High School special education paraprofessional Lissa Harvey has been named the May 2019 recipient of the Westonka Way Award. New this school year, the award celebrates non-licensed Westonka Schools staff members who go above and beyond for families, students and other staff — because that's the Westonka Way!
Harvey is in her 19th year of service with Westonka Public Schools. A nominator wrote of Harvey, “She spends countless additional hours prepping for activities, test reviews, etc., to best help students in need of the help. She provides guidance and a wealth of knowledge to the students and other staff within the building.”
The nominator added that Harvey "works because she loves the kids" and is genuinely excited to come to work each day. They wrote, "If everyone came to school with her attitude and approach, the world would be an amazing place!"
On Tuesday afternoon, Westonka Superintendent Kevin Borg, MWHS Principal Mark McIlmoyle and Special Services Director Meredith Boo presented Harvey with a special plaque and two gift certificates for the Al & Alma’s Signature Sunday Brunch Cruise on Lake Minnetonka.
This was the last Westonka Way Award presentation of the 2018-2019 school year. The award will be presented monthly again next year. To nominate an employee for the award, please use the Google Form.
