May 6, 2019 — Hilltop Primary School’s second- and fourth-graders participated in the Spring Fine Arts Night on April 30, which featured grade level music concerts and artwork displays at the new Westonka Performing Arts Center.

Fine Arts Night celebrates the artistic and musical achievements of Hilltop students at two events each year. In addition to this event, the first- and third-graders performed in the Fall Fine Arts Night on Nov. 27.

“This year we were so excited to be at the new Performing Arts Center!” said art teacher Klair Hans. “In addition to their fantastic singing and instrumental skills, students got to show off their artwork by choosing, framing and displaying one special artwork from this year.”

On display in the PAC lobby were chalk pastel owl drawings, Ghanian Adinkra cloths, cardboard cityscapes, imaginative paper sculptures, and much more.  “I couldn't have been more proud of our students!” added Hans.

On stage, the second-graders performed “A Book is a Magic Carpet,” which included songs about reading as well as a variety of books and authors. “Round, Rhythms & Recorders” was the theme for the fourth-graders’ performance, where they showcased a variety of musical activities that they have prepared throughout the school year, including the use of new percussion kits, according to music teacher Teresa Schmidt.

“We were thrilled to perform in this magnificent space!” added Schmidt.
