April 29, 2025 — Last week, the second grade classrooms at Shirley Hills Primary School were swarming with butterflies, beetles, flies, bees, and more, as students studied insects as part of their science curriculum.
Each student researched a different insect, including their sizes, colors, what they eat, where they live, and their life cycles. Students used their research to create an information book in writing. In addition to their work in school, students were asked to create a three-dimensional model of their insect at home to go along with their report. Each student shared his or her model and research with all the second grade classes.
Second grade teacher Jodie Rasicot said, “The insect presentations were BUGtastic!”
