April 22, 2025 — Westonka Adventure Club is partnering with the National Afterschool Association to celebrate Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, April 21-25. The goal of the week is to recognize those who work with youth during out-of-school times and to thank them for the difference they make in the lives of young people in our community.

“This week is all about recognizing the incredible work of our Adventure Club staff, who are vital members of our school community,” said Scott Lhotka, Director of Community Education. “Their energy, compassion, and dedication support the social, emotional, and academic growth of many students across the district - and we are so grateful for all they do.”

These professionals are the heart of both before, and after, school programs. Afterschool programs have become more than just childcare and are credited with enhancing social, emotional, and academic support for young people.
