April 8, 2025 — Four Mound Westonka High School Student Senate and National Honor Society (NHS) members participated in the MASC/MAHS (Minnesota Association of Student Councils and Minnesota Association of Honor Societies) 2025 State Leadership Convention at Hibbing High School April 4-6.
Juniors George Pettitt and Leon Kravchenko, representing NHS, and junior Susie Marth and sophomore Ella McClellan, representing Student Senate, joined students from 30 other schools across the state for a three-day event for Student Council and Honor Society students. They networked, participated in workshops and roundtable discussions, listened to amazing speakers, and gave back to the community through a United Way service project. The students were accompanied by advisor Emily Morrow.
Pettitt and Marth both ran for state offices, which included a rigorous application process, poster board presentations, presenting a video they created, giving a five-minute speech, and answering questions about their campaigns in front of an auditorium filled with their peers and adult advisors.
Pettitt was elected Vice President to the MAHS State Executive Board for the 2025-26 year. Marth ran for President of the MASC State Executive Board, and though not elected, she was the first runner-up to the position.
“Both students did an outstanding job!” said Morrow. “It was an incredible weekend that gave our students many new ideas and a fresh perspective to take back to Westonka -- a core memory for all of us!”
