March 20, 2025 — School news reporter Lorrie Ham has been named the March 2025 recipient of the Westonka Way Award. The monthly award celebrates non-licensed Westonka Public Schools staff members who go above and beyond for families, students and other staff—because that's the Westonka Way!
For more than 13 years, Ham has supported the community relations department by producing articles for both the Westonka News e-newsletter and Laker Pioneer newspaper. Through her work, she consistently showcases the accomplishments of Westonka’s talented teachers and students, bringing attention to their successes and fostering a sense of community pride.
“I am so grateful for Lorrie's efforts to highlight all the success stories here in Westonka,” wrote a nominator. “She seeks out things to celebrate, researches, and turns around to create a great story for the paper and social media. Her hard work does not go unnoticed.”
On Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Kevin Borg traveled to the Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) office, where Ham also serves as office manager, to present her with a special plaque and two gift certificates for the Al & Alma’s Signature Sunday Brunch Cruise on Lake Minnetonka.
The Westonka Way Award will be presented monthly throughout the school year. To nominate a non-licensed employee for the award, please use the Google Form.
