March 18, 2025 — Mound Westonka High School Theatre is excited to present the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! in April at the Westonka Performing Arts Center. Audiences are invited to enjoy the timeless songs of ABBA woven into a heartwarming story of love and family.

The production is made up of 59 students from grades 8-12 in the cast, crew, and pit band and includes 14 seniors who will perform in their last MWHS production. Mamma Mia! is set on a Greek island and follows a young woman’s quest to find her father, told through the music of ABBA.

Following the success of last year's production of Footloose, which earned recognition from the Hennepin Theatre Trust's Spotlight Education program, the MWHS Theatre cast and crew are eager to bring Mamma Mia! to life.

Performances will be held Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m.; Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m.; Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for students and seniors, and $15 for adults, and are available on the Westonka PAC website. Early purchase is recommended to secure preferred seating.

“This show is pure joy - it's a celebration of love, friendship, and finding where you belong, all set to the iconic music of ABBA,” said director and choreographer Jamie Harms. “Our students have been pouring their hearts into every moment, from the high-energy dance numbers to the emotional depth of the story. Their hard work and passion will shine on stage, and we can’t wait to share this unforgettable experience with our community. Audiences will be on their feet dancing by the end!”

In addition to Harms, the production team includes:

  • Joe Lawrence, Assistant Director
  • Tori Sweeney, Music Director
  • Josh Barnd, Set & Technical Director
