Westonka Students will Stuff the Bus for Westonka Food Shelf

Westonka Students will Stuff the Bus for Westonka Food Shelf
Shirley Hills students created flyers to encourage donations for Stuff the Bus.

March 6, 2025 — Throughout the Westonka School District, students are collecting food and funds for the Westonka Food Shelf in preparation for the annual Stuff the Bus event in March.

Led by Student Senate, Mound Westonka High School students have set a lofty goal of collecting $3,500. Thanks to generous donations for the event, some great incentives are available to students and staff who donate to the cause.

Raffle tickets will be available during all lunches through Wednesday, March 12. Tickets are $1 each, but higher donations result in a greater number of tickets: $5 for 6, $10 for 12, $20 for 30 tickets, $40 for 55 tickets, and $50 for 75 tickets. Donors can place their ticket in the raffle bucket of their choice to win some great prizes!

The drawing for the winners will happen during the school day on Friday, March 14. The total amount of funds raised for the Westonka Food Shelf will also be announced that morning. The Westonka Food Shelf will then use the money raised to purchase specific items that will fulfill the needs of families in our community.

Student Senate will be available before school through March 12 to collect cash and checks from parents during drop off at MWHS. Parents are encouraged to look for students and their buckets and help the school achieve its goal. Students will receive a coupon that can be redeemed at lunches for raffle tickets.

MWHS families can donate in person or by using the QR code below, which is a Venmo/PayPal link to a Friends of MWHS account.

Students at Grandview Middle School and Shirley Hills and Hilltop primary schools are also collecting money and food for the drive next week. Shirley Hills will post daily totals outside each classroom all next week, after creating flyers to encourage donations. Hilltop is hosting a contest to see which side of the school can bring in the most items, the K-2 pod or the 3-4 pod. They will also collect boxes of cereal to create a cereal domino maze.

At Grandview, the student council will provide a donut party for the top Morning Meeting classes at each grade level to encourage donations. A school bus will travel around the district to collect the week's donations on Friday, March 14.

All Westonka students and families are encouraged to participate in this annual event to help feed local families in need.
