October 23, 2024 — The Hilltop Primary School Octoberfest Carnival is always a great event, and this year was no exception. The community gathered Oct. 5 to play games, dunk Principal Mike Moch in the dunk tank, and visit with neighbors and friends, raising a record setting $40,000 in the process.

“The success of this event is a true testament to our community,” said co-chair Lindsey Lallas. “It takes hundreds of donations collected and raffle tickets and baskets sold, plus hours and hours of volunteer time.”

Octoberfest was a super fun day when kids played carnival games, bounced in bounce houses, and won prizes to their heart's content. While kids enjoyed the fun games and activities, parents met new people, tried their luck in the raffle, and bid on the online silent auction. Families also enjoyed great food and yummy treats.

“We are happy to host an event that brings everyone together and supports their mission with extra funding for the things that make our school great,” said Lallas.

The Octoberfest proceeds will fund PTA programs like environmental learning, Art Adventure, book vending machine, and more.

Lallas and co-chair Heather Tuttle thanked the parents who donated money, silent auction items, prizes, and time towards this year’s event, along with all the committee members and volunteers who helped to make the event a great success.

Thanks also went to the Mound Westonka High School DECA students for their participation in leading the carnival games. Many community businesses proudly sponsored the event, which allowed organizers to rent carnival equipment such as bounce houses and dunk tanks.
