Mound Westonka High School Named to AP School Honor Roll

October 3, 2024 — For the second year in a row, Mound Westonka High School has been named to the Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning bronze distinction.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

The Class of 2024 from Mound Westonka High School had 47% of students who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 39% of students scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 12% of students who took five or more AP Exams.

“We are proud that Westonka graduates have once again been recognized by the College Board for their AP results,” said Westonka Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Mark Femrite. “AP offers our students a chance to challenge themselves, earn college credit and, most importantly, learn at high levels.”

“This is also a wonderful recognition of our high school staff working hard to prioritize rigorous learning and post-secondary readiness, including in AP and other challenging courses,” Femrite added. "Going forward, we will continue to analyze our data to identify areas for improvement."

In addition to the School Honor Roll, Westonka students earned 60 AP Scholar Awards in 2024, including:

  • 30 AP Scholars
  • 15 AP Scholars with Honor
  • 15 AP Scholars with Distinction

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. MWHS currently offers 11 AP® courses in a variety of subjects.
