Queen Sylvi and King Rohan Reign Over Homecoming 2024

September 20, 2024 — An enthusiastic crowd of Mound Westonka High School students and family members gathered in the MWHS gym on Friday, Sept. 20, when seniors Sylvi Kantola and Rohan Nella were crowned the 2024 Homecoming Royalty during a morning pep fest.
Student Senate members Maria Sells and Mason Merritt, both juniors, emceed the coronation ceremony and introduced each member of the court.
“This Homecoming Court has done a great job representing the senior class and being great leaders to our student body,” said Sells. “Please join us in welcoming your 2024 Mound Westonka Homecoming Court.”
Queen Sylvi Kantola’s favorite classes have been Spanish with Sarah De La Vega. She plans to study environmental conservation at college next year. King Rohan Nella’s advice to younger students is to “not slack in high school as it will catch up to you later.” He plans to study artificial intelligence and business next year.
Jaden Christ offered his advice to younger students to “lock in early.” Christ plans to study finance at college next year. Sara Sipprell’s favorite class at MWHS was AP Biology with Wendy Richards. She hopes to become a dermatology PA.
Mia Weaver’s favorite class has been CIS Spanish with Sarah De La Vega. She plans to play Division I volleyball at the University of Missouri – Kansas City next year. Cole Drill enjoyed his AP Biology class with Wendy Richards. He plans to study civil engineering next year at a four-year college.
Anna Borg’s favorite high school memories were made while cheering on her friends at football games. Next year, she plans to attend a four-year university in the Midwest. AP Calculus with Lisa Paul has been Max Kraay’s favorite class. He hopes to play basketball at a four-year university next year.
Emma Carlson enjoyed seventh hour AP Calculus with Lisa Paul. She plans to study finance at college next year. Brenden Sexton’s favorite MWHS memory was going to the Barn for the state basketball tournament. He plans to study finance at college next year.
Stella Miner’s biggest role model is Alan Heibert, because of his positive attitude. She hopes to attend college somewhere where she can ski. Mason Sebasky’s favorite class is AP Calculus with Lisa Paul. He plans to study mechanical engineering at college next year.
Brooke Garlock, who is already working on her CNA requirements, plans to attend nursing school out east next year. Her favorite MWHS class is AP Biology with Wendy Richards. Tor Erdahl’s favorite class is AP Calculus with Lisa Paul. He hopes to study biology at college next year.
“This court has been a great representation of their class and our school,” said Sells, who offered congratulations to the members of the court. “Thank you all for your time and spirit this week!”
