Westonka is Top 5 in 2024 State Assessments

August 30, 2024—According to data released this week by the Minnesota Department of Education, Westonka Public Schools remains a high academic performer, with Westonka students scoring among the top in the state on the spring 2024 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) and Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS). Overall, Westonka had the third highest percent proficient in reading (75%), the third highest percent proficient in math (74%) and the fourth highest percent proficient in science (64%) in the state of districts testing at least 100 students in a grade level in 2024.

"These outstanding outcomes highlight our students’ efforts, our families’ engagement and support, and the high quality instruction and student-centered approach to learning used in every classroom across Westonka Public Schools,” said Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Mark Femrite. “They also underscore Westonka’s commitment to enhancing student learning and implementing effective teaching practices.”

"Although we have much to celebrate, we remain focused on continuous improvement and supporting all students’ learning and engagement," Femrite added.

2024 Westonka State Testing Results

Rankings reflect 2024 combined MCA and MTAS statewide results from school districts testing at least 100 students in the grade level. Results show the percentage of Westonka Public Schools students scoring “proficient” and above.

  • Overall State Reading Ranking - #3 in state
  • Overall State Math Ranking - #3 in state
  • Overall State Science Ranking - #4 in state
  • Westonka students scored in the Top 5 in State in 13 out of the 17 state-mandated assessments
  • Westonka was #1 in State in Grade 3 Reading, Grade 3 Math, Grade 5 Science and Grade 6 Math
