MWHS Student Senate Ready to Lead Next Year

May 30, 2024 — The 2024-25 Mound Westonka High School Student Senate was elected and officially assumed their new positions last week. School-wide elections were held May 22 with 50 students across four grades vying for a position on next year’s Student Senate.

The election process includes a self-evaluation, staff evaluation, a proclamation statement, and a popular vote by the student classes. Students must hold a 2.5 GPA and adhere to strict election deadlines to become eligible to run. 

Elections for Senate officers were held May 30, when six officers were elected to serve the Senate and high school next school year. Student Senate officers include co-presidents Stella Miner and Mason Sebasky, Vice President Emma Carlson, Communications Officer Edie Hollenstein, Treasurer Georgia Harmer, and Secretary Matthew Mobagi. 

Elected members of the 2024-25 Student Senate include:

  • 12th Grade: Emma Carlson, Cole Drill*, Shelby Gorr*, Stella Miner, Matthew Mobagi, Sullivan Rothenberger*, Mason Sebasky, Sara Sipprell, and honorary member Tor Erdahl*
  • 11th Grade: Georgia Harmer, Edie Hollenstein, Suzie Marth, Mason Merritt, Giana Meyer, Avery Pearson, George Pettitt, Maria Sells, and honorary member Luke Sunnarborg
  • 10th Grade: Aubrey Bruckner, Maddie Carlson, August Lang, Valerie Mobagi, Lizzy Nash, Brendan Rashleger, Wade Sturlaugson*, Ava Wittine*, and honorary member Ella McClellan*
  • 9th Grade: Oliver Berg, Ryleigh Hanley*, Amelia Holmberg, Emily Kreiser, Gabe Lundgren, Sadie Mulder*, Ruby Smith, Sophia Stanberry*, and honorary member Elias Ottenbreit*

8th graders will be elected in the fall of 2024.

Student Senate will begin their planning for the next school year in late July and will host their annual summer planning and leadership retreat in August. Senate will host traditional homecoming activities the week of September 16, 2024.
