February 7, 2024 — The second annual Shirley Hills Primary School Family Dance on Feb. 2 was a wonderful evening full of dancing, karaoke, masked singers, and griddy and limbo contests, with smiles all around! 

While the primary focus of the dance is to provide enjoyment for the school’s families, the Shirley Hills PTA is pleased to announce that the event also raised some funds, which will be directed by the PTA to address the needs of both students and staff. As this is only the second year of the event, the PTA is still in the process of identifying areas for improvement to enhance the experience in the coming years.

“Reflecting on our decision to launch the dance last year, we were uncertain about the level of interest from our families,” said PTA President Andrew Reinitz. “We are overjoyed that for both years, attendance reached maximum capacity, exceeding our expectations. We eagerly anticipate hosting the event again next year!”

The PTA extends heartfelt gratitude to the numerous staff members who generously volunteered their time, with special recognition to chairperson Holly Staples, and the outstanding DJ, Mike Neilson.

“Their dedication was instrumental in driving the success of the event, without which it would not have been possible,” added Reinitz.
