Westonka Earns 2023 ‘Best Schools’ Rankings

August 31, 2023 – In its new rankings released Aug. 29, SchoolDigger ranks Westonka Public Schools as the No. 7 school district in the state out of 448 Minnesota districts. Westonka comes in first in the state among traditional public school districts. 

The new SchoolDigger rankings were calculated based on 2023 Minnesota statewide assessment results. Read more about the SchoolDigger ranking methodology.

Also released this week was the annual “Best High Schools” list by U.S. News & World Report. Mound Westonka High School ranks as the No. 17 Minnesota high school overall and the No. 12 traditional high school in the 2023-24 ranking.

For this year's list, U.S. News & World Report ranked MWHS based on college readiness and college curriculum breadth from the 2020-21 academic year (based on AP exams); state assessment proficiency and performance and underserved student performance from the 2018-19 academic year (based on Minnesota statewide assessments); and the graduation rate for the Class of 2021. "These types of statewide rankings serve as yet another measurement of the high quality learning that occurs in Westonka classrooms each and every day,” said Westonka Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Mark Femrite. “They are a credit to our staff’s focus on continuous improvement and on empowering all students to realize their full potential.”
