May 23, 2023 — Mound Westonka High School custodian Randy Bonk has been named the May 2023 recipient of the Westonka Way Award. The monthly award celebrates non-licensed Westonka Public Schools staff members who go above and beyond for families, students and other staff—because that's the Westonka Way!
Bonk joined the district in October 2014 as a custodian at MWHS and has served in that role ever since. “Randy takes great PRIDE in his work and is always willing to do more if asked,” wrote a nominator. “He is a great teammate and always positive.”
On Monday morning, Superintendent Kevin Borg was joined by MWHS Principal Jolene Herfel, MWHS Assistant Principal Marty Fischer and Facilities Director Phil Smith to present Bonk with a special plaque and two gift certificates for the Al & Alma’s Signature Sunday Brunch Cruise on Lake Minnetonka.
This was the last Westonka Way Award of the 2022-23 school year. The award will be presented monthly again next year. To nominate a non-licensed employee for the award, please use the Google Form.
