May 12, 2022 — Mound Westonka High School juniors and seniors were “On Cloud 9” for Prom 2022 on Saturday, May 7. Student Senate worked for months designing, painting, crafting and building a set to transform the MWHS gym into a dreamlike setting. Families, friends and students gathered on Friday to kick off the prom events with coronation, which brought the crowning of Prom King Seth Worden and Prom Queen Lauren Nash.

Other members of the prom court included seniors Ellie Becker, Peter Borg, Mason Brakemeier, Montana Courneya, Anna Elliott, Joel Howarth, Blake Lee, Juliet O’Flanagan, Jacob Peterson, Anna Reier, Coco Sir and Quinn Vochko.

Saturday brought great weather for prom goers. As the gym filled with friends and families once again, students walked through clouds down the Grand March designed by juniors of the MWHS Student Senate.

A record-setting 337 guests headed to Minnetonka Orchards for the main event. Prom included dinner from Smokin’ Bonez Food Truck (part of the Forkless family of Maple Plain), yard games, cotton candy, smores, and live music provided by The MTVs.

“As advisors, we couldn’t be more proud of Senate and the work they accomplished this year,” said advisor Jamie Harms. “Minnetonka Orchards staff commented many times how respectful and kind our student body was and we walked away feeling incredibly humbled. We are very thankful to have had a successful 2022 prom.”
