June 2, 2021 — When the weather forecast for the scheduled Super Team Day looked rainy and cold, Shirley Hills Primary School staff members acted quickly to change the date from Thursday to Wednesday last week. The result was a perfect sunny and pleasant day for all grade level students to spend most of the day outdoors with their teachers.
Field days are an end-of-year ritual for many primary school students, and Shirley Hills’ event really emphasizes team and cooperative activities. From opening ceremonies to a variety of games, relays and races, Shirley Hills students enjoyed a great day outside.
"Super Team Day is one of the best days of the year!" said Principal Scott Eidsness. "We were very pleased with our decision to change the date as Wednesday was a glorious day to be outside."
Eidsness thanked Phy. Ed teacher Mike Nielsen, who did all of the planning and worked "tremendously hard" to make the day a success. "By all accounts, he did just that," said Eidsness. "It truly was a wonderful day for all."
