February 25, 2021 — Kindergarten students at both Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools celebrated a big milestone last week – the 100th day of school! Kindergarteners participated in all kinds of activities that involved the number 100.
At Hilltop, students brought in interesting assortments of 100 items from home, which they counted into groups of 10, 20 and 50. They did multiple counting activities, including 100 seconds of silence, and did a gumball art project. A writing activity involved what they would do with $100, along with other 100th day wants and wishes. Kids used an aging app to see what they would look like when they were old. They included the picture and wrote about it in their journals.
Shirley Hills kindergarteners licked a lollipop 100 times, made 100-bead necklaces, stacked 100 cups and dot-painted 100 gumballs. Students raced to 100 with a partner and made decorative 100 day headbands. Kids dressed like 100-year-old grandmas and grandpas and had lots of fun taking pictures in a decorated photo booth.
