February 17, 2021 — Every year in March, the Art Educators of Minnesota hosts a prestigious, state-wide competition in celebration of Youth Art Month. Art teachers from across Minnesota choose 4-6 student artworks to compete in the annual event. In past years, Westonka Public Schools primary school students have won first, second or third places, and even Best in Show!
Hilltop Primary School art teacher Klair Hans and Shirley Hills Primary School art teacher Ashley Clemensen are excited to continue this tradition in a virtual format in 2021. They created a slideshow of artwork by Hilltop and Shirley Hills students that was selected for this year’s Youth Art Month competition. Winners will be announced near the beginning of March; stay tuned to see if any Westonka students are honored!
