November 19, 2020 — Students at Grandview Middle School participated in Turkey Bingo Wednesday and Thursday during Morning Meeting. This popular annual event, enjoyed possibly more by the staff than the students, was a fun way for students and staff to connect before transitioning to distance learning.
Assistant Principal Nick David drew the bingo numbers and called them over the intercom so that everyone could play at the same time. Bingo took place over two days so that all in-person learners could play. Full distance learners took part in a fun Thanksgiving Kahoot!
David took the opportunity in between rounds to tell some amazing Thanksgiving jokes that earned a few groans from the middle-schoolers. Students who got a bingo had to flap their arms and gobble like a turkey as they made their way to one of the prize tables in the hall by the office. The Student Council provided a fun assortment of prizes like fidget toys, squish toys, turkey masks, pencils, slime and more.
Staff members weren’t sure how long the tradition of Turkey Bingo has been around, but estimates varied between 15 up to 50 years.
