November 20, 2019 — The Mound Westonka High School Rotary Interact Club completed two service projects on Nov. 13.
The first service learning opportunity was at Sojourner Project, a domestic violence non-profit and shelter serving the West Metro area of the Twin Cities. The MWHS students assisted staff and helped organize and clean the shelter.
The second Rotary Interact project that day was coordinated with all schools in the Westonka School District through the A Million Thanks organization. Together, the students filled out almost 1,000 holiday cards with messages of appreciation that will be mailed to active, reserve and veteran military around the world.
Interact is a youth extension of the Mound Westonka Rotary. "We are extremely proud of these students and how the they live up to our motto of 'Service above self,'" said Interact Director Gary Wollner.
