WSI Costa Rica Information Meeting Scheduled for Sept. 24
September 12, 2019—Westonka Summer Institute, the district’s credit-bearing immersion program, will return to CostaRica in the summer of 2020. Mound Westonka High School chemistry and physics teacher Sarah Morinville will lead the WSI Costa Rica Experience June 5-20, 2020, in partnership with Seeds of Change, Inc., a Minnesota 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation. Interested students in grades 10-12 and their parents are invited to attend an information night on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, from 7 to 8 p.m. in room C210 at MWHS.
During the Seeds of Change Tropical Rainforest Research Program, students will be immersed in a hands-on field research program that takes advantage of the immense biodiversity of the tropical rainforest. Participants will explore the rainforest alongside world-renowned experts, experience Costa Rican culture, take part in service projects and broaden their worldviews, all while having fun.
The program is fee-based and open to a limited number of students. The priority application deadline for the Costa Rica trip is Oct. 11, 2019.
