WSI Costa Rica Information Meeting Scheduled for Sept. 24

September 12, 2019—Westonka Summer Institute, the district’s credit-bearing immersion program, will return to Costa Rica in the summer of 2020. Mound Westonka High School chemistry and physics teacher Sarah Morinville will lead the WSI Costa Rica Experience June 5-20, 2020, in partnership with Seeds of Change, Inc., a Minnesota 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation. Interested students in grades 10-12 and their parents are invited to attend an information night on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, from 7 to 8 p.m. in room C210 at MWHS.

During the Seeds of Change Tropical Rainforest Research Program, students will be immersed in a hands-on field research program that takes advantage of the immense biodiversity of the tropical rainforest. Participants will explore the rainforest alongside world-renowned experts, experience Costa Rican culture, take part in service projects and broaden their worldviews, all while having fun.

The program is fee-based and open to a limited number of students. The priority application deadline for the Costa Rica trip is Oct. 11, 2019.
