Support the Westonka Foodies Angel Fund on Give to the Max Day

A message from Laura Metzger, director of food and nutrition services at Westonka Public Schools

Dear Westonka Families,

A few years ago, Westonka Foodies staff started the Angel Fund, which is used to pay breakfast and lunch meal account charges for students who may otherwise go without food during the school day. Community members generously give out of pocket to this fund every year because they see the struggles some Westonka students go through due to their families' financial and personal difficulties.

I wish I could report to you that we have no students in such dire circumstances this year, but unfortunately the number is still very large. Over 350 students have been identified by the district as children who may not have enough to eat on a daily basis.

Let’s work together to help solve this problem.

Thursday, Nov. 15 is Give to the Max Day 2018. On this annual day of giving, please consider making a donation to support the Angel Fund, and pass the link on to anyone who may be inclined to do the same. The goal of the Angel Fund is to raise $3,500 this year to provide fresh, healthy food for children in need in our schools.

All donations are tax deductible and will be used to meet the needs of the children described above.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Laura Metzger
