MWHS Seeks Veterans' Stories

MWHS Students Plan Veterans' Wall of Honor

November 2, 2018 — The past two years, students at Mound Westonka High School have provided an opportunity to showcase their community's veterans on the Veterans Day Wall of Honor. As we near Veterans Day on Nov. 11, the high school students are looking forward to putting this project together again.

“We know that among your families there are many veterans who have served or are currently serving in our Armed Forces,” said MWHS Student Senate advisor Jamie Harms. “We are providing students, families and staff of MWHS an opportunity to tell your family member's story.”

If you would like to share a story about yourself or your family member who is a veteran or is currently serving, you are encouraged to complete this Google Form.

The information collected will be used to honor these servicemen and women by placing their names, with the corresponding names of MWHS students and staff, on the windows leading up to the cafeteria. Information is collected through the form. A photo can be submitted through the form or sent directly to Jamie Harms at

Submissions will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Nov. 7. The wall will be displayed Nov. 9-14.

“We have been witness to the powerful experience of watching students and staff members stand beside each other learning about each other's family members and their sacrifices,” said Harms. “It is a wonderful tribute, and it puts a lot of meaning around the holiday for our school.”

MWHS hopes that you will consider participating if you have a loved one who is a veteran or is currently serving in the Armed Forces.
