Rotary Interact Club Service Project Supports U.S. Troops
November 1, 2018 — Deployed U.S. troops will receive some holiday cheer in the mail this winter thanks to the Mound Westonka Rotary Interact Club. Interact Club members worked with students from every Westonka school to create over 200 handmade cards that will be sent overseas through the Operation Gratitude program.
"Many thanks to the students and principals for their support of this program," said Interact Club director Gary Wollner. "I am proud of how once again the group came up with a great service idea and made it happen."
The Mound Westonka Rotary Interact Club was founded during the 2014-2015 school year with the goal of bringing together dedicated high school students and local business leaders to exchange ideas, build relationships and serve the community. Last year, the club was awarded the Presidential Citation Award from Rotary International for its work in performing three service projects over the course of the year - one at the local level, one at the national level and one at the international level.
