November 1, 2018 — Members of the Westonka Public Schools K-12 Art Department installed on Oct. 26 a series of original artwork now on display at the new Westonka Performing Arts Center. The Westonka Art Department Faculty Show includes a series of work by Hilltop Primary School art teacher Klair Hans and Mound Westonka High School art teachers Laura Halley Hensley and Sara Strother, as well as a piece by Grandview Middle School art teacher Laurie Nelson.
While each artwork included in the exhibit centers on the artists' specific themes, Halley Hensley and Strother collaborated over the past few months in making aesthetic choices that allowed their paintings and ceramic works to complement one another. Visitors can read more about each artist's work in their individual statements, on display in the exhibit.
There will be a reception Nov. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the PAC, where visitors will have the chance to view the artwork, talk with the artists and take in the beautiful new gallery space. This event is free and open to the public.
