Big changes are coming to school food service in 2023-2024!
PK-12 students will be eligible to eat 1 free breakfast meal and 1 free lunch meal each school day.
The federal government will cover the cost of the meal for students that qualify for educational benefits (known as free/reduced price meals). The State of Minnesota will cover the cost of students that do not qualify for educational benefits (previously known as paid students).
- Families will be requested to fill out an application for educational benefits to help Westonka capture necessary education funds
- Students will still use a PIN and go through a cashier line
- Breakfast must include a fruit or juice or entree alone will cost $2.00
- Lunch must include a fruit or vegetable or entree alone will cost $4.00
- Kids that bring a bagged lunch from home or students wishing to purchase a 2nd milk will be charged $0.60. Milk is not free without the selection of a meal.
- Adult lunch price will be $4.95 or as established by the federal government in July 2023
Be sure to stop by the Westonka Foodies booth at school open houses in the fall for more details.
