September 5, 2019 — Westonka Public Schools is once again ranked among the top school districts in the state, according to data recently released by websites SchoolDigger and Niche.
In the 2019 “Minnesota District Rankings” released this month by SchoolDigger, Westonka ranks 12th out of 452 Minnesota districts. Additionally, all four Westonka schools - Hilltop Primary School, Shirley Hills Primary School, Grandview Middle School and Mound Westonka High School - as well as the school district received five stars (the highest possible rating) from the school ranking website.
SchoolDigger calculates school and district rankings based on the most recent test scores released by the Minnesota Department of Education. The 2019 rankings reflect test results from the 2018-2019 school year.
Westonka is similarly ranked in the 2020 “Best School Districts in Minnesota” list released in August by Niche. Westonka is No. 16 on Niche’s ranking of 342 Minnesota districts, and all four Westonka schools and the school district received “A” grades from the ranking and review website.
Niche rankings are based on analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.
“Whenever our schools earn this type of national recognition, it only reinforces what we already know about our district - that we have truly exceptional teachers, staff, students and families who are committed to excellence in all areas,” said Superintendent Kevin Borg.
