March 12, 2025 — The Bel Canto Choir from Mound Westonka High School joined Bella Lumina, and singers from Minnetonka High School and Minnehaha Academy, for a powerful performance of Andrea Ramsey’s Suffrage Cantata on March 8 at Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park.

“This was an exhilarating experience for our Bel Canto singers and their families,” said MWHS choir director Kelly Newell.

Performed for a sold-out audience of over 500 people on International Women's Day, the Suffrage Cantata featured a treble choir, piano, string quartet, percussion, narrator, and soloist, along with projections of historical images and footage.

“The impact of this work, the power of the text, the talented soloist, and the opportunity to work with three other choirs was an honor and a great privilege,” said Newell. "I am filled with gratitude and so proud of our singers."
