September 9, 2021 — A total of 120 Link Crew leaders came together on August 29 to complete their training and prepare for the upcoming school year. The Link Crew led the eighth-grade Welcome Orientation on the morning of September 1. All eighth-grade students were picked up by school bus transportation or were dropped off at the high school for the events that morning.
“The orientation day was positive, upbeat and the leaders were genuinely excited to welcome the eighth-grade Class of 2026 to MWHS,” said Advisor Jen Bormes.
All leaders wore their red Link Crew tee-shirts at both orientation and on the first day of school to help eighth-graders and all new students to MWHS find their classes, open their lockers and begin to feel comfortable at their new high school.
Link Crew leaders will continue to meet with eighth- and ninth-graders monthly during WIN on Thursday afternoons. This time is intended to support the whole student during his or her high school transition, looking at education and connection beyond the traditional classroom.
“At MWHS we are dedicated to building community connections and a positive school culture,” said Bormes. “Link Leaders have committed to their crews as they also build and develop their own leadership skills.”
